Glassware curation for a Milan cocktail bar
Summary
For SUR, a new cocktail bar in Milan, I had the opportunity to curate the glassware selection for the space.
I didn’t design the pieces themselves. I spent my time looking, researching, comparing, and trying to understand how all these different objects could live together and become part of the same place.
What made this project particularly special to me was the chance to work with pieces created by designers and artists whose work I really admire and respect. There is something very exciting about spending so much time looking closely at someone else’s work, understanding what makes a particular object feel right, and then finding where it belongs within a bigger story.

Patagonia, in the glass
Every piece had a why behind it. The selection was inspired by Patagonia, Argentina, not just as a place, but through its landscapes, natural resources, textures, and the ingredients that inspired the cocktails.
The transparency and coldness of one glass brought to mind the Perito Moreno Glacier, its layers of ice and the feeling of something almost otherworldly. Other pieces spoke to the mountains and rocky landscapes, through their irregular shapes, raw surfaces and earthy tones. The warmth and sweetness of honey became another reference, not only through its color and materiality, but through the visual experience it brings to a drink.
I was also drawn to pieces that felt connected to the tradition of Mapuche clay mate cups, and to the relationship between handmade objects, natural materials and everyday rituals that is so deeply rooted in the region.

The makers
The selection brings together pieces I chose from Ichendorf Milano Manhattan, Studio Delta Pottery, Iittala, Ferm Living, and Sophie Lou Jacobsen.

Why curation
I think that’s one of the things I enjoy most about curation. You’re not trying to make everything yours. You’re creating a space where other people’s ideas can exist together, while giving each one a reason to be there.
And honestly, working with objects made by people whose work I admire was one of my favorite parts of the project. It made me feel, in a small way, closer to the designers and artists behind them, and to the worlds they create through their work.

Role
