Summary

I come from a country where mate is the drink and sharing is a way of life. In Italy, coffee is often taken standing up, fast, alone. Vifee sits in that tension. It is a borosilicate pour-over system for making coffee slowly, one drop at a time, whether you are brewing for yourself or for the table.

The best things take time. Vifee is that belief, made into glass.

Context

Vifee grew out of the same research that became Tipsy: Sonia Redon, Paula Castillón, and I studying how drinks are poured and shared across our cultures, from mate and Ataya tea to kiddush wine and the porrón. Pouring was the gesture that kept returning. Sharing a drink was sharing time.

Tipsy was the meal, the tilt of the carafe as the night loosens. Vifee is the morning after, and the afternoon: coffee as ritual instead of a transaction. One of the strongest formal references was a Jewish ceremonial wine fountain, a vessel that holds and then offers. I wanted that same architecture for coffee. Individual and collective in one system. A lid that is also a filter. Cups that teach the pour. A jug that turns the ritual outward.

The Collection

Four pieces. One language. Piano Piano is the lid and the filter. It sits on Piccolo, Grande, or Grandissimo. You place a paper filter inside and brew drop by drop through four small holes, so the coffee keeps its flavor and the glass keeps the heat until the last drop.

Material

The whole collection is borosilicate glass: durable, heat-resistant, able to hold temperature while you pour.

Clear on purpose. You watch the brew happen.

How to Use

‍Set Piano Piano on the vessel. Paper filter in. Coffee in. Water, slowly. Drink alone, or pour for the table.
